Pliance saddle system
Saddle fit and rider symmetry can change dramatically during motion. Therefore, it is essential that pressure distribution under the saddle is assessed dynamically as well as at halt. This information is recorded on to the computer wirelessly and can be used to analyse the interaction between the rider, saddle and horse. http://www.novel.de/old/nav2/nav_215.htm

What is the Pliance system?
The Pliance system is a thin elastic mat which measures pressure distribution under the saddle. It has 256 sensors which transmit data through bluetooth to the computer. You can see real time readings on the screen and play back in slow motion later.
Why should I go to Personal Best?
The aim of Personal Best is to identify the factor limiting performance. Have you ever thought 'why is my half pass to the left better than to the right? ' or 'why is my horse resistant in the canter?' The problem may be related to your saddle fit, your position or to a physical problem in the horse. Often they all play a part!
Personal Best Clinics
Individual mounted analysis consists of Pliance under saddle analysis and video analysis. Pliance saddle screening will identify if your saddle is a contributory factor. Louise will then recommend that you consult a saddler to resolve the issue. You will also have the opportunity to buy a DVD of the Pliance recording of the saddle pressures and a report. There is a small additional fee of £20. You can then watch it back at your leisure and show it to your trainer or saddler.
Louise has competed and coached for almost 15 years. She will watch you ride and will suggest a follow up session at the PB lab in Sheffield if necessary. Assessment on the mechanical horse removes the variables of your horse and allows the rider to focus on the alignment and body awareness. Dismounted exercise and work on the mechanical horse and balance horse improves feel, stability and core control (See rider physiotherapy and analysis sheet for further info).
If it is felt that the horse is in discomfort then Louise will suggest onward referral to a veterinary surgeon or physiotherapist. An appointment with PB equine physio, Victoria Spalding can also be arranged.
Arranging a clinic
Each individual session lasts approx 1.5 hours allowing plenty time to ride, try different saddles and then watch back the video and pressure images. Clinics are for a minimum of 4 riders and a maximum of 5 riders at a cost of £75 per person. Full payment for the clinic is due at the time of booking and responsibility to fill the places rests with the organiser.
Indoor facilities are recommended as it is not possible to use the system in the rain. However, if this is not possible a small rescheduling fee is charged if it is necessary to rearrange the clinic due to the weather.
