What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapists are trained to evaluate and improve movement and function of the body. A detailed assessment of your posture, range of movement, body awareness, strength and control can give the therapist clues about what may be causing riding related problems.

Did you know?

A previous ankle sprain can affect activation of core muscles and postural control (Bullock-Saxton et al, 1994 and Gribble PA et al, 2004).

After the assessment Louise may combine hands on techniques with exercises to 're-awaken' certain muscles. You can then put it all into practice on the mechanical horse and use the pressure feedback pad and video analysis to check improvement.

An individualised exercise programme will then be prescribed which can be followed independently with minimal equipment. With regular commitment you will develop body awareness, stability and control, which can improve your horse's way of going as a result.

From there Louise gave me a series of exercises which have definitely improved my body awareness when riding, my core stability and strength."                                                                                                                                                                             hannah-logo.gif

Treatment and Rehabilitation

- Low back pain?

- Recovering from a fall or surgery?

- Returning to riding after pregnancy?

- Unrelated sporting injury?

Louise understands the specific problems that rider's face. She can assess and treat injuries and provide you with a rehabilitation plan to get you back in the saddle as quickly as possible!

"I've had a few sessions with Louise for a back problem and her treatment has worked wonders! I'm pain free for the first time in years and my riding position has improved heaps thanks to having assessments on George (her very stoical mechanical horse) which helped me to feel where I was going wrong and yesterday we won... both our classes on our first time out for months!! :D" Claire White
